Tear Trough Filler Bruising Picture

Tear Trough fillers are a popular solution to eliminate hollowness and rejuvenate tired eyes, but tear trough filler bruising is something nobody wants. Though it’s a safe procedure, sometimes things go unplanned.

Nevertheless, as with most cosmetic procedures, bruising may occur afterward. If you are thinking about tear trough fillers, it is worth knowing the reasons behind bruising, its duration, and how to minimise it.

This guide will tell you everything you need to know to make your treatment successful and your recovery a breeze.

Why do Tear Trough Filler Bruising Occur?

Bruising occurs when the needle that is used to inject the filler touches small blood vessels beneath the skin. The needle may cause tiny blood vessels to rupture and blood to accumulate beneath the skin’s surface. This causes bruising.

The skin under the eyes is extremely sensitive and contains numerous tiny blood vessels near the skin’s surface; for this reason, bruising occurs more frequently here than in the rest of the face.

Everyone’s skin and vessels also respond differently; therefore, some individuals will bruise more than others.

How Long will the Brusing after Tear Trough Filler Last?

One of the most popular concerns individuals have after receiving tear trough fillers is how long the bruising will last. In most cases, bruising from tear trough fillers can last anywhere from 1-2 weeks. However, it depends on many factors, such as your skin type, general health, and ability to maintain the treated area.

Most of the bruising will resolve in the first few days, but it is normal for the complete recovery to take up to two weeks., Bruising can last longer in individuals who have more sensitive skin or are prone to bruising.

What to Do if you See Tear Trough Filler Bruising?

If you experience bruising following your tear trough filler procedure, follow these steps to treat it properly:

1. Remain Calm—Bruising is Normal

If you notice brusing, remind yourself that it is a typical side effect of the procedure. The area around the eyes is fragile and has numerous tiny blood vessels, and hence it’s only natural for bruising to happen, particularly after needle injections. Bruising will generally fade over time.

2. Use a Cold Compress Right Away

Use an ice pack covered in a clean towel, or even a cold gel pack, for 10-15 minutes at a time. Repeat several times a day, particularly in the first 48 hours. It will reduce the blood flow, leading to minimising the bruising.

3. Avoid Going in the Heat

Avoid exposing the bruised skin to heat during the initial few days. Heat tends to expand blood vessels, which can increase the bruising. Steer clear of hot showers, saunas, or sunlight for a minimum of 48 hours.

4. Take Rest and Keep Your Head Elevated

Rest and head elevation while sleeping may prevent bruising. Sleep with your head elevated on additional pillows to elevate the treated area. This maintains blood flow and keeps fluid from accumulating under the eyes.

5. Avoid Strenuous Activities

Do not perform any vigorous physical exercise, for at least 48 hours after you get under eye fillers. Excessive physical activity may increase blood flow, causing more bruising. Maintain light activity for the first few days.

5. Ask your Practitioner if you can any Creams

Arnica is famous for its ability to reduce bruising. Rubbing the bruised spot with arnica gel or cream can improve healing. Consult with your practitioner when and how to do it, but typically, you should begin using it 24-48 hours from your treatment.

6. Stay Away From Alcohol and Blood Thinners

Alcohol and some medications such as aspirin or ibuprofen, can also enhance the risk of bruising. For 24-48 hours after your treatment, avoid alcohol. Ensure you consult your practitioner if you’re on any blood-thinning medications.

7. Be Gentle with the Treated Area

Avoid rubbing, massaging, or touching the bruised area excessively. The skin is more sensitive after treatment, and further pressure or irritation will worsen the bruising. Follow their instructions if your practitioner has suggested a gentle massage or movement.

What to Do if Bruising after Under Eye Filler Doesn’t Improve?

In most instances, tear trough filler bruising will resolve on its own within a couple of weeks. If, however, the bruising doesn’t resolve or is worsening, it’s best to get in touch with your practitioner. Although in some cases, it might be an early indication of a tear trough filler gone wrong, especially if symptoms like pain, swelling, or lumpiness persist.

If you find that bruising is associated with extreme pain or other unexpected symptoms, the best thing to do is to visit a doctor immediately. Sometimes the filler may need to be removed if complications do occur, but this is strictly something a qualified practitioner should be doing.

When Should you Contact your Doctor?

Bruising due to tear trough fillers is usually temporary and will resolve in a week or two. Yet, if you notice any of the following indications, call your practitioner immediately:

  • More than two weeks of bruising.
  • Intense or escalating pain.
  • Indications of infection, such as redness, heat, or pus.
  • Vision changes or difficulty breathing (very rare but dangerous complications).

Final Remarks

Tear trough filler bruising is normal, but with proper precautions, you can reduce its occurrence and hasten the healing process. Be sure not to take blood-thinning medication or alcohol, or engage in heavy exercise before and after your procedure. Use cold compresses and arnica gel to minimise bruising.

If you observe some strange symptoms, don’t delay consulting professionals. You can reap the rewards of tear trough fillers and look rejuvenated and young with proper care and attention without worrying about too much bruising.

Whether you’re new to cosmetic treatments or you’ve had fillers before, understanding what to expect from your tear trough filler treatment Leeds will help ensure a smooth experience and beautiful results. Always choose a qualified and experienced practitioner to get the best possible outcome from your treatment.

FAQs

1. How do I know if my tear trough filler has gone wrong?

If you notice severe pain, bruising, infection (redness, warmth, and pus), lumps, or uneven results, these may indicate a problem. Contact your practitioner immediately if you’re concerned.

2. How do you get rid of a bruise under the eye after fillers?

Apply a cold compress for the first 48 hours, use arnica gel, keep your head elevated while sleeping, avoid strenuous activity, and avoid alcohol or blood-thinners.

3. What does an overfilled tear trough look like?

An overfilled tear trough may look puffy, lumpy, or swollen. It can also create a bulging appearance under the eyes, which may look unnatural.

Results typically start to improve within a few days, but full results are usually visible after 1-2 weeks, once swelling and bruising have subsided.
