Know Everything About Stomach Fat (Belly Fat)

Stomach fat, also known as belly fat or abdominal fat, is a buildup of fat around the abdomen.

There are two main types of belly fat :

Subcutaneous fat: This is the fat that sits just beneath the skin. It’s the jiggly fat you can pinch.

Visceral fat : This is the deeper layer of fat that surrounds your organs like the liver, intestines, and kidneys. Visceral fat is more dangerous than subcutaneous fat because it releases hormones that can increase your risk of chronic diseases.

FAQs About Stomach Fat (Belly Fat)

Frequently Asked Questions

Generally, non-surgical fat reduction procedures are considered safe when performed by a qualified healthcare professional. However, as with any medical procedure, there are some potential side effects and risks to be aware of.

These can vary depending on the specific treatment. Some common side effects include :

  •  Temporary bruising, redness, and swelling at the treatment area
  • Tingling or numbness
  • Skin irritation
  • Tenderness

More serious risks are uncommon but can include :

  • Infection
  • Allergic reaction
  • Paradoxical adipose hyperplasia (rare side effect where treated fat cells actually  increase in number)
  • Skin burns (with laser treatments)
  •  Nerve damage (very rare)

It’s important to consult with our doctor to discuss your individual risk factors and ensure the procedure is safe for you.

Recovery times for non-surgical fat reduction procedures are typically much shorter than those for liposuction. Most procedures require minimal downtime, allowing you to resume normal activities the same day or the next. Some treatments may cause slight soreness or tenderness that resolves within a few days.

There is no evidence of long-term health risks associated with non-surgical fat reduction procedures when performed correctly. However, these procedures are relatively new, and long-term studies are still ongoing.

Non-surgical fat reduction procedures are not designed for dramatic weight loss. They are most effective for targeting small pockets of stubborn fat that don’t respond well to diet and exercise alone. The amount of fat loss you can expect will vary depending on the specific procedure, the size of the treatment area, and your individual body composition. Typically, you can expect to see a reduction of 1-2 cm in waist circumference.

If you maintain a healthy lifestyle with a balanced diet and regular exercise, the results of non-surgical fat reduction procedures can be relatively permanent. However, if you gain weight after the procedure, new fat cells can develop in the treated areas.

These procedures are generally ideal for individuals who are close to their ideal weight but have stubborn pockets of fat they’d like to reduce. They are not a substitute for weight loss or a healthy lifestyle. Ideal candidates should also be in good overall health and have realistic expectations about the results.

Blepharoplasty

Blepharoplasty, also known as an eye lift, is a surgical procedure performed on the eyelids to improve their appearance. It can address concerns like:

  • Excess skin on the upper eyelids: This can obstruct vision and create a hooded appearance.

  • Bags under the lower eyelids: These can make you look tired or aged.

  • Drooping lower eyelids: This can also obstruct vision and contribute to a tired appearance.

Types of Blepharoplasty:

  • Upper blepharoplasty: This addresses concerns with the upper eyelids, removing excess skin and sometimes fat or muscle tissue.

  • Lower blepharoplasty: This addresses concerns with the lower eyelids, removing excess fat or skin and sometimes repositioning tissues.

  • Asian blepharoplasty: This addresses specific concerns related to the anatomy of Asian eyelids, creating a more defined crease.
