Four main types of
Dermal Fillers

HA is a naturally occurring substance found in the skin that helps to keep it hydrated and plump. HA fillers are the most common type of dermal filler and are available in a variety of different brands and formulations. HA fillers are typically used to treat fine lines and wrinkles, add volume to the cheeks and lips, and improve skin texture. HA fillers last for about 6-12 months before they are naturally broken down by the body.

CaHA is a mineral that is found naturally in bones and teeth. CaHA fillers are thicker and more durable than HA fillers and are typically used to treat deeper wrinkles and folds, such as the nasolabial folds and marionette lines. CaHA fillers also last longer than HA fillers, typically for about 12-18 months.

PLLA is a synthetic substance that is used to stimulate the production of collagen in the skin. PLLA fillers are typically used to treat moderate to severe wrinkles and folds, as well as volume loss in the face. PLLA fillers last for about 2 years before they are naturally broken down by the body.

PMMA is a synthetic substance that is used to add volume to the face and cheeks. PMMA fillers are the longest-lasting type of dermal filler, typically lasting for 5 years or more. PMMA fillers are also the most expensive type of dermal filler.

Frequently Asked Questions about Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are generally considered to be safe when administered by a qualified and experienced specialist. However, there are some potential risks and side effects associated with dermal filler treatment, such as:

  • Swelling
  • Bruising
  • Redness
  • Pain
  • Itching
  • Allergic reaction
  • Infection
  • Granuloma (a small bump under the skin)
  • Tyndall effect (a bluish discoloration of the skin caused by the filler being injected too superficially)

We use only the highest quality dermal filler products, such as Teoxane and Ellansé.

Our specialists are highly experienced and skilled in dermal filler injection techniques.

We offer a free consultation so you can learn more about dermal fillers and discuss your individual goals.

We are committed to providing our patients with the best possible care and results.

The cost of dermal fillers will vary depending on the type of filler used, the amount of filler used, and the geographic location. In general, dermal fillers can range in price from £250 to £800 for one injection

There is minimal downtime associated with dermal filler treatment. Most people can return to their normal activities immediately after treatment. However, it is important to avoid strenuous activity and heat for the first 24-48 hours after treatment.

The duration of dermal filler results will vary depending on the type of filler used and the individual patient’s metabolism. HA fillers typically last for about 6-12 months, while CaHA fillers typically last for about 12-18 months. PLLA fillers can last for up to 2 years, and PMMA fillers can last for 5 years or more.
The frequency of dermal filler treatments will vary depending on the type of filler used and the individual patient. Most people need dermal filler treatments every 6-12 months.

Dermal fillers are generally safe for most people over the age of 18. However, there are some people who are not good candidates for dermal fillers, such as people with certain medical conditions, such as autoimmune disorders or allergies to the filler material.

Like any medical procedure, there are risks and side effects associated with dermal fillers. The most common side effects are mild and temporary, such as swelling, redness, bruising, and tenderness at the injection site. Other, more serious side effects are rare, but can include infection, allergic reaction, and nerve damage.

A dermal filler treatment is typically a quick and easy procedure. Most treatments take less than 30 minutes to complete.

Before the treatment, your provider will numb the area to be injected. Then, they will use a very thin needle to inject the filler into the skin.

After the treatment, you may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection site. These side effects are typically mild and temporary.

After a dermal filler treatment, it is important to follow your provider’s instructions carefully. This may include avoiding strenuous activity, massaging the injection site, and avoiding sun exposure.

You will typically see results from your dermal filler treatment immediately. However, it may take a few days or even weeks for the full results to be visible.
